CHELSEA will make Mauro Icardi their No1 target if they land Maurizio Sarri as head coach, according to reports in Italy.
And that looks like a bargain for a 25-year-old forward who has scored 53 goals in his last two Serie A seasons.
Corriere de sport claim, if the blues pay the £7m release clause for Sarri, the Italian will launch a move for his favourite striker.
While boss at Napoli – before leaving at the end
of May – Sarri tried to land Icardi but could never quite afford the master finisher but that will not be a problem at Stamford Bridge.
Even with his current visa issues, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is like to invest heavily after his side fell well short in the Premier League last season - and salvaged their season with the FA Cup.
Incredibly, Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli has axed the brilliant marksman from his World Cup squad – with stars like Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain preferred –
but that means he will be fresh for the start of next season.
On the final day of the Italian season, Icardi netted a crucial penalty to take his league tally to 29 and send Inter Milan to the Champions League.
And that could be the perfect parting gift if the Inter captain looks for a fresh challenge and the chance to finally link up with Sarri.

play a key role in negotiating any possible move.
